You’ll be working on a wide variety of challenging and interesting projects, across a range of different sectors and industries. Coming from an established background in product design, product ownership, business information or UX, you’ll be able to jump straight into a project, identify assumptions and research opportunities, and plan your deliverable work alongside diverse development teams.

You’ll be part of our small team of UX designers and researchers, who work directly with clients. You’ll help decide how our clients' products and services look and behave and have input and provide recommendations for new features, and work with product teams to build valuable, beautiful products for their users.

You’ll be comfortable working with your teammates to help you create and define these experiences, and challenge yourself, the team, and the company to be constantly improving. You're not the kind of person that likes to be handheld - you're independent and want to give everything a try, but understand that good design is born from good collaboration. You’ll want to share your knowledge from other projects and ways of working and relish the chance to learn from others, too.

Plus, as you’ll be working as part of a small team, you’ll have a real opportunity to shape The User Story and the work you do. You’ll even be able to aid the design of our own digital products.

  • Enable client collaboration & communciation
  • Identifying product growth opportunities
  • Analysing interfaces, journeys and architectures
  • Developing domain knowledge of products
  • Use of design heuristics
  • Writing acceptance criteria
  • Designing information architectures
  • Designing user journeys
  • Designing wireframes
  • Creating interactive prototypes
  • Designing content hierarchy
  • Create research artefacts
  • Create research & design briefs
  • Organise user research
  • Run user research sessions
  • Analyse research outputs
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver product

Here are some of the great benefits you’ll have access to:

  • Unlimited holiday
  • Flexible working hours
  • Dedicated personal development time
  • AXA-PPP health insurance
  • Bike-to-work scheme
  • Tech scheme
  • Discounted gift cards for shopping and cafes

This is a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of turning into a permanent position for the right person, and if we're in the position to do it!

Every day at The User Story, we live out our four values. They shape everything we do, the decisions we make and the way we approach our work, and most importantly, the way we treat each other.

So, if you would like to apply, we want to know why you want to work with The User Story, how you live our four values, and whether you’re a cat or a dog person.
